Doc Swinson's Alter Ego Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Rum Casks
customer reviews
Description
Matured in a solera system where younger whiskies are slowly added into older barrels over time, the Doc Swinson rye is bottled at 47.5% after an additional maturation in rum casks. If you're a fan of the Basil Hayden Caribbean Cask series, you'll definitely want to check this one out. A blend of mash bills aged 4-6 years in new oak and bottled without chill filtration, this edition took Double Gold honors at the SF Spirits Competition. Never too sweet on the palate, the honeyed notes from the rum gently coat the spicy and herbaceous character of the rye, still shining through at 95 proof.
